Soil nail reinforce structures

Building railway network, tunnel construction is quite convenient for saving cost. And self drilling soil nail is an efficient way to reinforce structures. It combines drilling, grouting and anchoring together, bonds to soil layer, stabilizes stratum and then reaches to the effect of supporting projects.
The most common application of soil nails is in Shotcrete-Soil Nail retaining walls. Shotcrete-Soil Nail retaining walls are constructed from the top down using five foot vertical cuts.
It is commonly believed that with the introduction of soil nails to slopes, this new combination of elements possesses higher shear strength than the original soils. In the context of Rankine’s active state, soil nailing serves to provide horizontal restraint to guard against active failure.
Designed to be installed horizontally or at a slight angle (20-25°), soil nails provide reinforcement for earth retention structures within excavations and on slopes in top-down construction. Installed into a drilled hole and used in combination with plate washers and shotcrete, soil nails are effective as temporary or permanent geostructural solutions.
Soil nails are installed in applications such as bridge abutments to stabilize the embankment and provide structural support for a shotcrete wall. In a permanent application, each soil nail is triple corrosion protected.
Soil nail provides a resisting force against slope failures. Its construction process is faster than other similar methods. The construction procedure starts, drilling into the soil, where the nail, steel bar, is going to be placed. After the drilling has been completed, exact depth must be provided by the geotechnical engineer, the nail must be inserted into the drilled hole.
Then, it must be grouted into the soil to create a structure similar to a gravity wall. After placing the nail, a shot-Crete layer is usually placed as a facing material, to protect the exposed nail, and then other architectural options are placed over the shot-Crete, creating an aesthetic finish to the project.
